How to get to the Colosseum ?

The Colosseum is located in the heart of the city, at the east of the Roman Forum. If you’re hotel is within the historic centre of Rome, you might just find yourself within walking distance of the Colosseum.

If you’re a little further out though and you’d rather get the metro, there are two options. The closest metro station to the Colosseum is Colosseo, which is just a stone’s throw from the ancient amphitheatre. Or if you don’t mind walking, Termini metro station is about a 15 minutes’ walk away.

There is the option of getting a taxi, but be warned, this is quite a lot more expensive! However, you’ll have door-to-door service.

So if you plan on visiting a lot of the attractions included and discounted, the Roma Pass could actually save you money in the long run. However, it’s not worth purchasing the Roma Pass just as a ticket for the Colosseum.

Security

Before you can enter the Colosseum, you’ll need to go through security checks and metal detectors. These checks happen before the ticket queues, and can cause delays to your visit, so make sure to arrive 60 minutes before your set entrance time. Restrooms

The last thing you want is to make it inside the Colosseum only to need a toilet and not be able to find one. So you’ll be pleased to hear that there are restrooms to the left of the Colosseum ticket booths. These are the only restrooms in the Colosseum though.
